We are pleased to announce the Sled Dog Music Mandolin Series. These three sessions are designed to develop your skills as a player whether you're a complete beginner or a more advanced musician. The first session "Tone and Technique" includes a brief discussion of mandolins, strings, picks, tuning, set up and so on, along with developing good fundamentals, exercises, designed for building good tone and technique. This session will be held on Feb 2nd at 7pm.
The second session "Chords and Rhythm" - how to find them and how to (as well as how not to) use them. This session will be held on Feb 22nd at 7pm.
The third and final session "Soloing and Improvising" will teach the basics of playing behind a singer..improvising on a fiddle tune........generally the subject of what to do when your turn to solo comes at the jam. This final session will be held on March 15th at 7pm.
These sessions will be led by Fred Redekop (Ain't No Mountain Boys, Keystone Bluegrass Quartet) and held at Sled Dog Music 1328 Portage Avenue. The cost is $10.00 per session and you can register by calling (204) 783-2542.
