Newtone and Burns Strings
We have finally worked out our supply problem with Newtone and Burns strings from England. We have both in stock now and with any luck won't have any difficulty in acquiring more when the time comes. So if you're one of the Newtone devotees, then hop on down.
For the unintiated here is a brief primer on why these strings are so in demand. They are a hand wound string produced in a small shop in England. The big difference between these strings and other brands is that Newtone strings are made of a round core. Regular strings are made over a hex core. As the winding passes over the corners of the hex it is kinked. With each turn a new kink. This contributes to the string breaking down sooner than it should. Also there is a small space left beneath the winding and the hex core. Oils and small particles accumulate there and also contribute to the demise of the tone.
The Newtone string is wound over a round core which means no kinking, nor any space for oils or particulate matter. This means that the Newtone string lasts longer than other brands and sounds better through the life of the string. If you haven't tried these out yet you owe it to yourself to check them out.
